I definitely have not socialized very much since getting home, and yet I don't feel like a shut-in like I usually would. I think I attribute that to Charlie being back home. And visiting me at work...and staying over...and making surprise visits at home...
We watched another tape of Looney Tunes, so that's been quoted often. And I just ordered him a novelty t-shirt that has a picture of Alex Trebek with some Jeopardy categories, reading "SUCK IT TREBEK". (a la Saturday Night Live). He should love it.

Partially-related: I REALLY have lost weight since coming back from Europe, and I figure it's due to a couple of prime things:
1) While I've been losing weight since getting out of high school, due to walking much more, I apparently just KEEP walking all the time. Probably also helps that I STILL don't drive.
2) Eating more fruits and veggies. So simple, and so effective.
3) Thinking that maybe the cutting-out of the dreaded High-Fructose Corn Syrup IS having a great effect.
It's really weird trying on skirts that I bought last year that felt *TIGHT*...and having all this extra room where I'm left saying "Hmm. Guess I need to wear a belt with this then."

All in all...I'm feeling FABULOUS.

I've never flirted so much in my life. So much fun. Also been going to sleep for the past week or so with a smile. Every time I turn on my phone I giggle. Oh boy.

I'm usually happy with the way things go to begin with...but now I have another reason to have a bounce in my step. Come on down, summer!

Wow. I don't know whether to laugh or be absolutely disgusted -

So I'm changing the bedsheets. I pull my bed away from the wall to tuck in the corners...and see something wrapped around one leg of the bed.

I look closer.

A CONDOM. A used one.

WTF? Have I just been blind all year, or did something happen at some point that somebody was not responsible enough to clean up? If somebody was shaggin' that obviously was NOT me...there are FOUR trashcans within reach of my bed.

Even better reason to change my bedsheets, I suppose...

1. Comment to this and I will give you three people.
2. Post this meme with your answers.
3. Provide pictures and the names of the three people.
4. Label which you would marry, shag, and throw off a cliff.

I was tagged by [info]electricwitch, and my people were: Old!Ferry, Old!Adam Ant, and Beard!Jarvis. Oh boy.

CLIFF:

Oh Jarvis...I love him, but that beard has got to go. Doing the search for a beard pic, all the OLD Pulp pix came up and I almost cried.

SHAG:

Old!Adam - He's a big old bag of crazy (further evidenced in almost excruciating detail in the autobiography). But I still think he's AWESOME - mentally unstable men aren't usually my thing, but when it's somebody I admire...perhaps I'd make an exception.

MARRY:

Bryan, OF COURSE. He's a dirty old man, perhaps THE definition of, considering he's supposedly dating an ex of his 23-year-old son's...but I still squee every time I look at the Roxy boxed set he signed for moi. And that he became quite enthusiastic in our short convo. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd I've always wanted to be an artistic muse, so since he's apparently working on a new Roxy album...*wink wink, nudge nudge*

...AM I THE ONLY PERSON NOT SICK OR COMING DOWN WITH SOMETHING?! All three of my roomies are practically deathly-ill or were over the weekend; and I'm hearing that an acquaintance who's studying in Rome right now has strep throat. WHO GETS SICK IN ROME? I never felt better than when I lived there.

I already had my big winter cold the week of Christmas (first cold in a year-and-a-half), so I shouldn't get anything again. I don't get the flu ever, or if I do, I just get the one-day thing where I'm a wreck for 24 hours and then I'm perfectly fine the next day. BUT GODDAMMIT, am I really that much healthier than everyone else? Is my immune system really THAT much better, that I haven't been hit with this bug going around (apparently even overseas)? The only things I've been doing differently from my roomies is:
a) Not eating entirely processed foods
b) not eating at 1 AM, again all fast-food
c) SLEEPING when one SHOULD be sleeping (i.e. go to bed at 1 AM, wake up at 9/whatever...not nap for 4 hours during the day...pretty much just keeping a regular sleep routine)
d) taking VITAMINS (last semester when everyone got sick, I didn't...I think because I'm always getting my Vitamin C)
And perhaps most importantly -
e) NOT GETTING WASTED OFF MY ASS ON SCHOOLNIGHTS...where then I'm puking all night and feeling miserable, coincidentally at the same time that a nasty flu virus is running rampant.

Apparently all those things add up to health. Perhaps they should write that in packets to college students...

So...I'm onto my final semester of college. SHITE. Still gotta make my payment for my diploma, and agonize over whether I'm gonna actually go to graduation. I get my diploma either way...hmm. Like I need another cap and gown taking up room in my closet.

This is my favorite semester in a while, taking a drawing class, dance, acting, and a random history course. The drawing class is exactly what I've wanted to take forever, and we're focusing on the nude figure.

I need to get my resume in order, and then submit it everywhere. I want to have a somewhat-steady job upon graduation, if not working 5 days a week, then at least 3 or 4 - rather than the 2 days I get currently. Most importantly, I WANT NO MORE RETAIL. I'D LIKE TO HAVE MY WEEKENDS OFF LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE.

Somehow break made me realize how much I miss home while away... )

Didn't make any that I remember. So whatev.

So saw Duran again last night at the House of Blues in Atlantic City. Facebook's being a bitch right now and not letting me upload pix, but I'm putting a few choice ones here (mainly Simon since he was easiest to get). General admission, baby! Weaseled my way as close as I could, which was about 6 layers of people away...I could be deluding myself, but I'm pretty sure I made eye contact with John and Simon.

AWESOMENESS:
-playing "White Lines" live, haha.
-Simon doing his "who's your daddy" bit again...for minutes at a time. And then turning around to point at his dorky shirt with his name on the back.
-Simon introducing Nick as "SOUL BROTHA"
-introducing "A View to a Kill" as "We consider ourselves lucky with the name of the Bond theme we got to do..." and John cuts in with "hey, I rather liked 'Octopussy'!"
-a really bizarre singalong in the middle of "Girls on Film"
-doing "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone"
-long story: my mom ended up going with me. We didn't stand together during the show 'cause she didn't want to be in the crush of people up front - but afterwards we found each other and she goes "What was the whole 'Play the fucking bass, John' thing?"

Everyone put on your best smiles and think about sex, 'cause Nick is gonna take your picture! )

Jayzus, I can't believe it's been 28 years since Lennon's...you know. My parents still talk about waking up that morning, with the jazz station (WRTI, Temple's station, by chance) playing Beatles music - and knowing that something was very wrong.
Mom's friend Pat was staying over then and just cried all day. Coworkers were completely inconsolable, went home since they couldn't get anything done.

Oh John, you still completely amaze me. And I'm sure will still do, generations from now.

I decided that while doing German homework, maybe Kraftwerk would make me concentrate. Then I remembered that a lot of this is instrumental. Oh well.

In other news, I'm on a health-food kick. After a few months of thinking, it makes sense to me that the reason I felt GREAT and had all this energy in Europe was not only out of excitement of being there, but also that I had no processed foods or, most importantly, high-fructose corn syrup. After telling my roomies I want to cut it out of my diet, they all say "GOOD LUCK" sarcastically. I don't think it'll be hard...it's just buying different brands of things, mainly. And having to read labels all the time. I already have cut down my amount of juices and sodas (especially sodas) over the past 3 or 4 years; drink water a lot more; get more exercise (oddly I feel and look more fit even though I don't do marching band or play tennis); and definitely have had more fruits and veggies than I ever did pre-Europe.

It just kills me that there's high-fructose corn syrup in fucking BREAD. Not dessert bread...ACTUAL bread. WTF? Since when does bread need to be sweetened? It's BREAD. And why is it in fruit-on-the-bottom yogurt? I guess the fruit is syrupy. ARGH. Well I found a list of HFCS-free foods, so I know it's possible to still get basics and even snacks without that crap in it.
Guys, avoid this section. You won't understand, but the girls do. )

Dammit, I wanna see Duran at the House of Blues in Atlantic City. Small venue, general admission = ME SMASHED AGAINST THE STAGE. OH YEAH. I'm short - people have to let me up front somewhere. Hah. I know I just saw them in May but I'm still kicking myself that I didn't pay the extra $10 to get right in front of the stage...so here's my makeup.

BUT apparently nobody has money. I know it's hard economically but jeez. I'm willing to spare money for that. If nothing else, I'm gonna try to talk mom into going with me. Oh boy. It's on a Saturday; can't do better than that...I would seriously go by myself if I knew anything about Atlantic City. But I haven't been there in years and barely ever on the Boardwalk. So...not gonna risk that.

Blargh.

Been watching MST3k - specifically "Agent for HARM", "Mitchell", and "Werewolf". Oh god so many lines that I keep laughing at, during inappropriate moments.

Now, as tagged by [info]violentfemmebot...10 things beginning with "R" that I like (and if you want your own letter, comment and I'll give you one):

1. Rain: Not the pouring, ohmigod-I'm-gonna-drown-in-the-street kind, but the nice showers during the spring and fall. I just like the feeling of wandering the streets with an umbrella.

2. Roxy Music: C'mon, you must've known this would come up. The songs still kill me, impress me, and...agh I'm still shocked about meeting Mr. Ferry.

3. Red Carpet Massacre: Yes, Duran's new album is still a big obsession. Granted, I first said NO NO NO to them working with Timbaland/Justin Timberlake, but that's only a few songs, and they're great. And then the rest of the tunes, where it's just DD...fabulous.

4. Robert Palmer: How I miss that man. Further reason that I wonder about how those men from Northern England end up all soulful - Stevie Winwood, Robert, Eric Burdon...A bunch of times I've put on Robert's albums and my dad goes "WHO WAS THAT?! Sounded pretty bluesy, jazzy..."

5. Rome: Obvious reasons. Everytime I run into people from the program they immediately say "I miss Rome." Scary to think that at this time last year, I was in Europe. Wow.

6. Rocky Horror Picture Show: I remember watching it when I was little in an insanely edited version on Comedy Central and being intrigued. Then being on VH1 a few years later on Halloween...and becoming obsessed. I think I love Susan Sarandon even more besides her great acting talents, just for being in a cult classic and awesome movie like RHPS.

7. "Random": I definitely use this term way too much, but it's perfect for describing anything where you want to say "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT" without offending someone.

8. Rhodes, Nick: Oh Nick, you crazy weirdo. Watching old Duran/Arcadia videos, I end up laughing at Nick...whether because he just looks way too feminine or because he says strange things in interviews. "HEY DON'T LAUGH AT OUR CAR!"

9. Reynolds, Debbie: I think realizing that Debbie was the love interest in "Singin' in the Rain" sealed it for me. I already loved her, then seeing her in that...aw she's so cute. And in "In & Out" she just kills me - "I need flowers and placecards and bridesmaids. It's like heroin."

10. "Retro": You all know I use that term a lot. I use it in the way that is not always condescending, but in that something is old-fashioned but cute; kitschy, yes, but charming.
